FCC adopted this mission statement many years ago and it still guides the congregation and the life of the church.
THE MISSION OF THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF HOUSTON IS
To welcome all into an inclusive community
To seek to follow Jesus’ teachings
To search for more truth and light
To support one another on our faith journeys
To strive for peace and justice
At FCC, there is no religious test for membership or a creed that one must accept. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey you will be warmly welcomed.
FCC is a Christian Church. We strongly believe that the life of Jesus is a source of inspiration and spirituality that speaks to each member in a unique way.
FCC believes that a life well-lived involves a search for authenticity and connection with others. We align with our Pilgrim and Puritan ancestors in pursuit of a world informed by – and governed by – faith and community.
At FCC pursuit of spiritual growth is a personal journey that has many pathways. We accept this diversity and support each member in finding and following their own pathway.
FCC firmly believes that part of our work as a Christian community is to speak out against practices that discriminate against others because of their place of origin, appearance, beliefs, or sexuality.
