Music is woven into our worship with the congregation joining together in song several times during the service. Our hymnal, Hymns of Truth and Light, was compiled by FCC members in 1993, and is now used by more than 100 other congregations.
If you enjoy singing, consider joining our choir. They perform one or more anthems at every worship service. The rehearsals are fun and reasonable in length. Their singing is often supplemented by additional soloists or Instrumentalists. They fill our Meetinghouse with a joyful noise every Sunday.
If you enjoy playing an instrument, consider joining our Bell choir which is featured often during worship. If you are accomplished on a particular instrument, let our music director know. We are always looking for ways to add music to worship.
Our Concert Series
If you love music but aren’t interested in performing, consider helping us with our two concert series. We have a chamber music series in our Meetinghouse featuring some of Houston’s most acclaimed chamber ensembles. The concerts are free (donations gratefully accepted) and are held either on a Saturday evening or a Sunday afternoon.
Our second series is outdoors and more casual. It showcases local and regional folk and country artists. Members and guests bring folding chairs, snacks and their favorite beverage to enjoy as they listen to the music. There is typically one performance a month on a Friday, weather permitting. The concerts are, also, free (donations gratefully accepted).
